On the Trail With Mike Allen

The Virginia Pro Chapter
of the Society of Professional Journalists presents
Mike Allen
Chief Political Correspondent
Followed by a happy hour at Capital Ale House.
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Richmond Times-Dispatch
300 E. Franklin St.

Please join us in welcoming Mike Allen back to Richmond. The chief political correspondent for Politico.com will offer Virginia journalists a unique perspective from his years on the White House press corps and on the presidential campaign trail. He’ll discuss the campaign, how he made the switch to full-time Web reporter and anything you’d like to ask about.

A graduate of Washington & Lee University, Allen worked for The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the New York Times, The Washington Post and Time magazine. He covered both the White House and Capitol Hill (at different times) for The Post. At The Politico, his popular blog, “Mike Allen’s Playbook,” reads like he talks and, one colleague notes, usually arrives at a “disturbingly early hour.”

It’s sure to be a fascinating discussion and you won’t want to miss it. Then join Mike and catch up with your journalism colleagues at Capital Ale House – where it’s “Steal the Glass Night” (623 E. Main St., http://www.capitalalehouse.com).
