Two losses to Virginia journalism this week

Louis Wendell Hodges

Louis Wendell Hodges, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Professor of Journalism Ethics Emeritus at Washington and Lee University, died yesterday, Feb. 8, from complications of a severe head injury he received in a fall six years ago. He was 83. Hodges taught religion and ethics at W&L for 43 years.

Glenn Allen Scott

Glenn Allen Scott worked for The Virginian-Pilot for 45 years, retiring in 2001. As an associate editorial page editor, he was known for influential, passionate writing that left a permanent stamp on our community. Police say Scott, 83, appeared to die of natural causes, but it’s not often such things happen in public.
