Consider serving as an SPJVA officer or director

We’re inviting nominations, including self-nominations, to fill positions on the chapter’s board of directors and as SPJVA officers for 2022-23. You can toss your hat in the ring or nominate someone else here.

We will have at least three openings on the board when the terms for Logan Bogert, Caroline Cardwell and John Hopkins expire in June 2022. (Logan, Caroline and John: Thank you so much for your service.)

In addition, we are seeking nominations for chapter president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. (Officers are elected for one-year terms, though they can be re-elected.)

The duties of board members and officers are described in our chapter’s bylaws. The deadline to submit nominations at https://forms.gle/sAkuRhWR3FbUXPsr9 is April 15.

SPJVA President Dina Weinstein will appoint a nominating committee to oversee the process and, if necessary, recruit candidates to ensure that we have at least one nominee for each vacant position. Then, we will hold an election in the spring to formally fill the director and officer slots.

To serve as an officer or director, you must be a member of the SPJ Virginia Pro Chapter. If you are unsure of your membership status, check the society’s national website.
